The way we understand human life depends on what conception we have of the human story. What is the real story of which my life story is part?

We Are Shaped by God's Story

Each of us has a story. We are born into a cultural story. We grow up within a societal story. These stories shape the way we think about ourselves, about others, about life, about our work, about...well, everything. These stories tell us how to categorize our lives.

When we think about Church, it is easy for us to place our “faith” or “religion” into one of the many categories in our lives. When we do this, it becomes possible to go through the motions of “church” but see very little affect in our lives at large. This is a problem.

At Via Church, we see the Bible primarily as a single, unified story that sits over every single other story–all cultural stories, all societal stories, all other stories. This means that the biblical story shapes the way we live the entirety of our lives. We are a people who desire to be continually shaped by God’s Story in every aspect of our lives.
